Shadow Play is the right panel in the Still Water Moving Light triptych. In this piece, the palette shifts subtly—cool tones and layered brushstrokes hint at deeper reflections, both literal and emotional. Flecks of light pierce through foliage, casting long shadows that ripple across the water’s surface. It’s a painting about contrast—stillness and motion, clarity and ambiguity. Framed and ready to hang, Shadow Play can be collected individually or displayed with Serenity and Life Resting as part of the full triptych to experience the work as a continuous unfolding of mood, movement, and light.

ABOUT THE ARTIST.

In my artistic practice, I draw inspiration from my immediate surroundings on the Central Coast of NSW, where the convergence of National Parks, inland waterways, and the  ocean provides  inspiration  for my creative exploration. Living in a community where the ocean plays a central role in the landscape, I find inspiration along its beaches, cliffs, and lagoons.

My artistic process begins with observing and investigating  the natural environment, usually by walking and watching.  Sketching, photographing, and painting serve as the initial steps, allowing me to capture the essence of the landscapes before returning   indoors to paint in my studio.  What excites me most during this process are the vibrant colors that are created  by the ever-changing interplay of light influenced by weather, season, and time of day.
