Step gently into a world of light and stillness, where lily pads float like thoughts on water.

Step quietly into a sunlit pond, where reflections shimmer and lily pads drift like whispered thoughts. This richly layered painting invites the viewer to enter from the lower left, guided by golden glimmers and flickers of crimson stemwork, toward a serene green pad at centre — the quiet heart of the scene.

Soft brushwork and glowing colour create a rhythmic sense of movement through water. Cool blues and warm greens intermingle with flashes of gold, capturing the play of light and shadow on the surface. As the eye moves upward, the forms dissolve into mist, evoking early morning stillness and the mystery of what lies just beneath.

ABOUT THE ARTIST.

In my artistic practice, I draw inspiration from my immediate surroundings on the Central Coast of NSW, where the convergence of National Parks, inland waterways, and the  ocean provides  inspiration  for my creative exploration. Living in a community where the ocean plays a central role in the landscape, I find inspiration along its beaches, cliffs, and lagoons. When I am not drawing inspiration from the outdoors I love to set up and paint simple objects from my home.

My artistic process begins with observing and investigating  the natural environment, usually by walking and watching.  Sketching, photographing, and painting serve as the initial steps, allowing me to capture the essence of the landscapes before returning   indoors to paint in my studio.  What excites me most during this process are the vibrant colors that are created  by the ever-changing interplay of light influenced by weather, season, and time of day.
