Gallery Statement — Art in Bloom
Cheryl’s work is a conversation between nature and emotion—between what we see and what we feel. In her impressionistic landscapes, lily ponds shimmer, and light dances across water’s surface, drawing us inward.
A classically trained artist and art teacher with over 40 years of experience, Cheryl brings both discipline and spontaneity to the canvas. Her work is grounded in strong drawing skills developed through traditional atelier training, but it’s in the freedom of the brushstroke—the looseness, the layers, the unexpected moments—that her paintings truly bloom.
The Art in Bloom series continues Cheryl’s exploration of light, water, and natural abundance. These paintings are more than botanical scenes—they are invitations to pause, reflect, and feel. Just like the lily pond, which has appeared in stories from mythology to Monet, Cheryl’s florals are metaphors: for beauty, growth, and quiet strength.
With each piece, she asks: What do you see? What do you feel? Where does this painting take you?
